FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS SEXOLOGICAL BODYWORK?

Sexological Bodywork is a new and emerging profession offering the profound and effective use of modalities that support participants to gain greater somatic awareness and deep authentic embodiment.   Through the exploration of touch, movement, sound, breath and awareness we move beyond the mind and you begin to access your sexual self in an empowered and life affirming way.   From this place you will begin to feel more, know more and live more.  Sexological Bodyworkers are effective in supporting others to learn and grow using the body as teacher and guide.

Modalities such as breath work, skills in touch, genital and anal work, education in arousal anatomy, massage, mindful erotic practice,  scar tissue remediation and body mapping are offered as ways of deepening connection and facilitating learning. Sexological Bodyworkers in Australia are trained and certified through the Institute of Somatic Sexology.  I am certified and a current member of the Somatic Sex Educators Association of Australasia and as such works in adherence to their professional code of ethics.  Touch is one way (from practitioner to client) and protocols such as wearing gloves are adhered to during genital and anal touch.

Sexological Bodyworkers are erotic educators and offer deep experiential learning that is designed to awaken and enliven your sensual, sexual self.

What are some of the reasons someone might book a session?

People seek my support for many reasons and purposes.   Some come to work with specific things of concern - areas that no longer serve them and places they want to push beyond and discover what lies beneath.  They may be in long term relationships, or with new lovers.   They may be single and seek to deeply love and know themselves.   They may have experienced sexual trauma or things in life that have robbed them of their innate capacity to feel and be intimate.   They may be ecstatically happy and purely desire more pleasure.   They may not know exactly where they want to go but are certain of where they no longer want to be.

who do I work with?

I welcome all genders, sexual orientations, abilities and relating styles.  I work with people over 18 who want to dive deeply.  Who are not afraid to move beyond the familiar.   Who come with an open mind and heart and who have a genuine desire to know more, grow more and live more.

WHAT MIGHT A SESSION INCLUDE?

Sessions are framed around your learning objectives and are very much about meeting you wherever you are at.   This may mean that the whole session is spent talking or alternatively the focus may be all body work or a combination of both. Collaboratively we identify your intentions and what might most support you in what you want to achieve, and then from there agree on ways of working together in the session.   Boundaries that respect safety and choice are always maintained.  Sessions are usually 90 minutes and practice opportunities are identified for you to continue working at home.  I also often offer to email you additional information or tools that may support ongoing learning.   Sessions are held in a beautiful rural setting in my work studio at home.   We are surrounded by bushland and privacy.

As memories and emotions are often held in the body, it is possible that past experiences and/or emotions may be triggered. Everything you bring is welcome and we will work with whatever situation arises. Strong emotions may be evoked both during and after sessions and you are advised to take the time you need to integrate your experiences and support yourself.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT MY WORK?

I draw from a rich and eclectic wealth of experience and teachings.  Ignited by an unrelenting curiosity and desire to grow and learn I utilise my own explorations to fuel my love of all things embodied. I draw on my professional and personal abilities to create and hold a safe and empowered container from which others can deeply explore with curiosity, wonder and learning.  My inclusive practice draws from a dynamic mix of embodied, psychological and shamanic tools woven together with the gift of intuition and trust.  As a Certified Sexological Bodyworker I thrive and am deeply inspired by those who journey, meet and transform their edges and embrace the fullness of their sexual selves.  My study with the School of Shamanic Womancraft gifted me with the wisdom of the seasons and cycles and a well developed ability to hold space.    I have tertiary qualifications in Human Services and have worked for over two decades as a counsellor and social worker in the area of trauma.   I have attended and facilitated many workshops and gatherings in a range of settings and am strongly committed to my ongoing personal and professional development.

My ‘tool kit’ is expansive and ever growing and allows me to meet others right where they are.  My intention is to collaboratively create a safe space, hold the parameters and support others to discover their own pathways and outcomes.

WHERE DO I WORK FROM AND WHAT HOURS ARE SESSIONS AVAILABLE?

I work from a beautiful work studio on my property in the Samford Valley in Brisbane.   The space allows for group gatherings and private individual sessions.  I offer workshops and erotic community experiences with my friend and colleague, Danniel Shervey through our joint venture – Celebrating Eros. These groups include practical skills based workshops, conversational meetups and community experiences. In addition I run groups specific for survivors of sexual trauma and am available to create and offer special workshops or events to meet the needs of an existing group.  Please see the workshop section of my website for further details.  Private sessions are available during business hours on Thursdays and Fridays and evenings during the week.
